HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c407W
Mr. Ioan Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the conditions governing the making of grants from the King's Fund (1940).

Mr. Alfred Morris

The King's Fund is a registered charity maintained by donations and bequests and my right hon. Friend is its principal trustee.

The fund helps those disabled or bereaved by service in Her Majesty's Forces in the two world wars, and in operations such as Korea, Cyprus, Malaysia and Northern Ireland. Others eligible for help include former military prisoners of war, members of the Civil Defence Services disabled during the war and their dependants, and also civilian internees of the Japanese during the second world war. Grants are given for a variety of needs: for example, holidays, clothing, house repairs and fuel debts. In the year ended March 1977, payments from the fund totalled approximately £24,000. The total assets of the fund at 1st April 1977 were £169,451.

Applications for help from the fund should be sent to the Secretary, the King's Fund (1940), Room 6206, Norcross, Blackpool, FY5 3TA.
