§ Mr. Brothertonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs for what purpose his Department proposes to make a grant of £47,500 to the Great Britain—East Europe Centre.
§ Mr. LuardThe grant in aid is given to the centre to assist it to foster contacts between the United Kingdom and Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania; to promote in those countries better knowledge and understanding of the United Kingdom and its people; and to enable the centre to carry out a programme of activities in pursuance of the provisions of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe. The total grant for 1977–78 will now be up to £50,000 of which £45,000 is the basic grant in aid and £5,000 is to meet expenditure on CSCE activities.
