HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c387W
Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of hours on duty per week currently required of Service men doing temporary fire service duty.

Mr. Mulley

Service men engaged on fire service duty work a variety of shift systems to suit local circumstances but, allowing for 48 hours leave per fortnight, the average duty is 72 hours per week. The frequency of 48 hour leave is subject to local variation.
