§ 41. Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will now take action to have more extensive use made of continuous-edge carriageway road markings in non-built up areas in order to reduce the number of road accidents.
§ Mr. HoramUntil there is clear evidence that in all situations continuous edge-of-carriageway marking is superior to the broken line on straight sections of unlighted all-purpose roads with no kerbs, I believe that the more emphatic continuous edge line should be reserved for use where the edge of the carriageway is poorly defined and to mark hazards, such as bends or narrow bridges.
