Mr. Robin F. Cook

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in the Official Report a table for the most recent convenient year showing what percentage of annual admissions and average daily populations of Scottish prisons are (a) illiterate, (b) educationally sub-normal or (c) epileptic.

Information in the form requested is not available. 160 inmates of Scottish penal establishments who were assessed as illiterate, and 600 who were assessed as semi-illiterate, attended remedial classes, and 748 in concept of idle or dormant land is so wide mates were treated for epilepsy, during that it is impracticable to collect statistics 1976.
