HC Deb 14 December 1977 vol 941 c271W
39. Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what consultations he has had on problems associated with drinking and driving.

Mr. Horam

When the Blennerhassett Committee reported last year all bodies that had made representations to the Committee were consulted before the Government announced their acceptance of the report as a basis for new drinking and driving legislation. Since then the Department has had further consultations about several of the proposals, including the introduction of instruments for breath analysis, and also about publicity to inform drivers of the dangers of drinking and driving.
