HC Deb 14 December 1977 vol 941 cc265-6W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimates he has to show the total amount of land in Scotland which is officially classed as (a) derelict or wasteland and (b) idle or dormant land.

Mr. McElhone

The most recent estimate—1975—of the total amount of derelict land in Scotland is 28,500 acres. The Concept of idle or dormant land is so wide that it is impracticable to collect statistics on it.
