HC Deb 13 December 1977 vol 941 c155W
Mr. Robert Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, what is the composition of the National and Local Government Statistical Liaison Committee; and how many times it has met since 1st October 1976.

Mr. Shore

The committee is chaired by the principal director of statistics in the Departments of Environment and Transport. These Departments, together with the Central Statistical Office, provide the secretariat. Central Government Departments are represented by statisticians and local government by officers nominated by the local authority associations. Specialist members are co-opted from time to time. A fuller description of the committee was published in Statistical News number 29 (HMSO, 1975). The committee has met four times since 1st October 1976.
