HC Deb 13 December 1977 vol 941 c160W
Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the national dairy herd at present; and how this compares with the figures in "Food from Our Own Resources".

Mr. Bishop

The provisional outcome of the June 1977 census puts the United Kingdom dairy herd at 3,265,000. The White Paper "Food from Our Own Resources" made no prediction about the size of the dairy herd but gave a projection of possible milk production in 1980 of 3,536 million gallons.
