§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to allow British citizens working in the institutions of the EEC, to vote in the United Kingdom elections to the European Assembly; and whether their votes will be cast in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or a region of England.
§ Mr. JohnThe Government consider that the franchise for European Assembly20W elections should be the same as for United Kingdom parliamentary elections with the addition of Peers. Persons working in the institutions of the EEC will be entitled to vote in the United Kingdom elections to the European Assembly only if they qualify as Service voters or through residence at an address in the United Kingdom.
