§ Mr. MacGregorasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how much central Government expenditure has been allocated in the current year to Citizens' Advice Bureaux and Consumer Advice Centres, respectively; and, of the totals, how much is specifically directed to, or available for, Norfolk.
§ Mr. John FraserFor the financial year 1977–78, central Government have made £3.3 million available for consumer advice centres in Great Britain. The one application under this scheme from Norfolk was for £28,125 and has been approved.
In the same period, £1.4 million direct central Government funding is being provided to the National Association of Citizens' Advice Bureaux. Most of this is a contribution to national and regional office expenses. The National Association itself decides where to allocate those 13W funds for assistance to individual bureaux, and will be providing £2,340 in Norfolk this year. This figure does not take account of the separate rate support grant assistance provided to local authorities, many of whom grant aid individual citizens' advice bureaux.
