(1) The estimates are subject to sampling error and are rounded to the nearest 10 pence.
(2) The estimates for manufacturing cover all categories and grades in those industries, including the highest paid.
(3) The estimates for policemen may include some employees classified to this occupation and reported to be affected, directly or indirectly, by the police service pay agreement but not employed in the police service.
(4) The estimates do not take account of pay settlements implemented after the survey returns were completed which resulted in additional pay for the April reference period—for example, the 1977 estimate for policemen.
