HC Deb 08 December 1977 vol 940 cc821-2W
Mr. Forman

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish an index of gross domestic product from 1966 to 1976 and for the first three quarters of 1977, from which production of North Sea oil and gas has been subtracted.

Mr. Denzil Davies

The table below shows index numbers (1970=100) of gross domestic product at constant factor cost, based on output data, both in total and subtracting the net output of the United Kingdom petroleum and natural gas industry, as defined by Minimum List Heading (mlh) 104 of the Standard Industrial Classification, 1968 (Amendment list 1). This industrial category comprises the activities of exploration for, and extraction of, petroleum on land and offshore; "petroleum" in this context includes mineral oil, natural gas and natural gas condensates.
