HC Deb 08 December 1977 vol 940 cc833-4W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will consider any further extension of the Export

Mr. Les Huckfield

During the current financial year the Corporation expects under its capital development programme to place new orders worth about £250 million and to spend over £500 million. Provisions for the next two years are now being discussed.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when his Department was first made aware of definite British Steel Corporation intentions to construct steelmaking capacity at Hunterston; what was that first proposal; and if he will list the changes of plan known to his Department since that date.

Mr. Les Huckfield

The proposal, for an electric arc steel-making plant, came to the Department in 1975. No decisions on changes have been made.
