asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the numbers of people employed in the construction industry in 1964, 1970, and at the present time.

Estimates of numbers of people employed in construction in Scotland are not available on a consistent basis before 1964 and two estimates are provided for the break in series at 1965. Estimates of total employees in employment in the construction industry in Scotland on this basis are given below:
