§ Mr. Wattasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he proposes to take to stop the dumping of Irish beef on the United Kingdom market.
§ Mr. Hugh D. BrownI have been asked to reply.
Imports of beef from the Irish Republic enter the United Kingdom subject to the terms of the Community's beef regimé and agri-monetary system. The trade which is taking place is thus not contrary to Community provisions. I am aware that the quantities of Irish beef on the United Kingdom market have increased this year and my right hon. Friends and I will take full account of this and other relevant factors in the forthcoming EEC negotiation of prices for the 1978–79 marketing year.
