HC Deb 07 December 1977 vol 940 c775W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what further consultations he has had with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees regarding assistance to refugees from the Communist Governments of Cambodia and Vietnam.

Mr. Luard

The Government are in constant touch with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on refugee matters. We gave £250,000 in June for his special programme of assistance to refugees in Thailand and in other countries in South-East Asia. Given the continuing need for funds for that programme, my right hon. Friend the Minister for Overseas Development has recently agreed, subject to parliamentary approval, to increase this sum to £750,000.
