§ Mr. DeakinsAt 30th September 1976 a total of 737,815 whole-time equivalent staff were employed by health authorities and boards of governors in England, at a salary cost in 1976–77 of some £2,673 million. These figures are provisional. 743W They exclude agency staff, locums, clinical assistants and independent practitioners, but include staff of the Dental Estimates Board and Prescription Pricing Authority.
