What species and numbers of primates have been imported for research purposes during the latest year for which details are available, and how this compares with the previous year.

Our anti-rabies quarantine records show that 2,030 primates were imported into research premises in Great Britain during 1976. A further 7,974 were imported into acclimatisation premises supplying animals for research: many of these are eventually sent overseas. The comparable figures for 1975 were approximately 2,400 and 7,900 respectively.
