§ Mr. Ridsdaleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to amend the law so that a foreign husband of a British citizen has the same rights to automatic citizenship as the foreign wife of a British citizen.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI do not intend to introduce early legislation to amend the nationality law. The possibility of enabling men to obtain citizenship in this way is among the ideas put forward for comment and discussion in the Green Paper on Nationality Law (Cmnd. 6795—Paragraph 50(i)).
