HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 cc358-9W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what criteria he uses in deciding how much grant to give to regional development associations.

Mr. Cryer

The grants given have regard to the number of unemployed in the special development areas and the development areas of the regions covered by the English regional development associations, somewhat more weight being given to the North of England because of the deep-seated structural tin-employment and the particular problems of the industries there.
