HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 c416W
47. Mr. Charles Morrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the current level of returns to pig producers.

Mr. Bishop

Pig producers' average returns have improved in recent months and are now at a level of about 11p per kg deadweight higher than in March this year. Producers are also benefiting from the fall in grain prices and the reduced prices of compound feeds. My right hon. Friend is, however, continuing his efforts to secure a reduction in the pigmeat mca's which would help further to improve producers' returns.
