HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 c352W
Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will seek to amend regulations contained in the Nursing Homes Act 1975 whereby chiropody services may not be provided by any area health authorities for persons living in nursing homes registered under the Public Health Act 1936, in order that these persons may receive a free chiropody service.

Mr. Moyle

There are no such regulations. Area health authorities may provide chiropody services free of charge to persons living in registered nursing homes. Confusion has regrettably arisen because of an ambiguously worded circular which is to be revised.
