HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 cc405-6W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if the settling ponds at the Carnmoney Waterworks are in use.

Mr. Carter

The settling ponds at Carnmoney Water Treatment Works, which are in fact lagoons, are in use.

Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if tests have shown that the discharge from the Carnmoney Waterworks meets the legal requirement at the point of exit from the works and at the point of discharge into the River Faughan; on how many occasions it was tested during the last two years; and what was the result of such tests.

Mr. Carter

The discharge from Carnmoney water treatment works is subject to frequent checks and there is no indication that this constitutes a hazard to the River Faughan.
