asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action he is taking to break down the trade barriers preventing export of British beer to Germany, in the light of the fact that German beer enters the United Kingdom without hindrance.

This problem falls to be solved by the harmonisation of the food and drink laws of member States. Whilst opposed to harmonisation for harmonisation's sake, I support it where, as in this instance, it can make a genuine contribution to freeing trade.
