HC Deb 27 April 1977 vol 930 c356W
Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much land, in acres, in Scotland, is in the ownership, respectively, of the Department of Agriculture, the Crown Estates Commission, the Forestry Commission the Highlands and Islands Development Board, the Nature Conservancy, the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board, the South of Scotland Electricity Board, and the National Trust for Scotland.

Mr. Hugh D. Brown

The amount of land held on behalf of my right hon. Friend by the Department of Agriculture is 445,794 acres and by the Forestry Commission 1,895,500 acres. The Crown Estates Commissioners' Report for the year ended 31st March 1976 gives information about estates and acreages held by them in Scotland. For the other bodies the information sought is not held centrally and relates to matters out with the Secretary of State's direct responsibility. I suggest that my hon. Friend write to the boards/agencies concerned.
