§ Mr. Buchanasked the Lord Advocate if he is yet in a position to make a statement on the results of the investigation into the explosition at the Braehead Container Depot in January.
The Lord AdvocateI have completed my investigations into the Braehead explosion. On the information presently before me I do not propose to take criminal proceedings in regard to it. There is insufficient evidence that this disastrous fire was started by a criminal act on the part of any person. The reasons why a conflagration of this magnitude occurred and had such alarming consequences are being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive. The results of this investigation will be embodied in a report which will be made public.
