HC Deb 26 April 1977 vol 930 c289W
Mr. Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will authorise the construction of additional underpasses to the A74 where it can be shown that livestock and stockmen have their lives in danger whilst crossing over the A74 from farmsteading to grazing land.

Mr. McElhone

Dumfries and Galloway and Strathclyde Regional Councils are examining this matter as part of a comprehensive appraisal of the A74 on which my right hon. Friend hopes to receive their reports fairly soon. Any proposals for providing underpasses will be considered along with other recommendations in relation to such factors as their likely contribution to road safety and their cost.
