§ Mr. John H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Industry from information available to him from Community sources, if he will estimate the investment due to take place in the steel industry as part of the Davignon programme within each member country of the European Coal and Steel Community and in total over the next five and 10 years; and whether he is satisfied that the increase in productivity and rate of rationalisation of resources will be adequate to sustain a fully competitive industry in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Les HuckfieldNo specific proposals for the achievement of longerterm objectives in the Community steel policy have been put forward. The British Steel Corporation already has in hand a large capital investment programme designed to achieve a fully competitive steel industry in Britain.
