§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Minister for the Civil Service by how much the average public service salary is reduced to pay for pension entitlement.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisNo figure for the reduction from the average public service salary is available. I described the three reductions to Civil Service pay in the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Aberdare (Mr. Evans) on 3rd March—[Vol. 927, c.270].—Typical contributions deducted from the pay of members of other major public service groups are 6 per cent. for local government and NHS non-manual staff and teachers and 5 per cent. for local government and NHS manual staff.
§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Minister for the Civil Service how many public service pensioners there are at present.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisApproximately 1.25 million, including dependants.
§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will estimate the number of public service pensioners living in the constituencies of Ashfield and Grimsby.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisI regret that no reliable estimate could be made on the basis of the information available.
