HC Deb 25 April 1977 vol 930 c265W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what border changes have taken place in respect of the constituency of Belfast, South for the purposes of the forthcoming local government elections; and what is the total number of additions or reductions to the current register in comparison with the register used for the October 1974 General Election.

Mr. Carter

The forthcoming local government general elections are not related to parliamentary constituencies. No changes have been made to the district council electoral area boundaries since they were constituted in 1972. There were 75,443 electors in the Belfast, South constituency in the register used at the October 1974 General Election. The number in the current register is 71,790, a reduction of 3,653.
