HC Deb 25 April 1977 vol 930 c218W
Mr. A. J. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Transport why a claim in respect of loss and damage arising out of the Al Cawledge diversion made on behalf of Mr. H. Sordy of Greensfield Farm on 7th August 1975 has not yet been resolved; and when he expects to resolve it.

Mr. Horam

Determining liability for loss or damage from construction works can be a lengthy business, especially when any items are in dispute. I regret that examination of this case took longer than we would have liked. The Department has now instructed the district valuer to negotiate a settlement with Mr. Sordy's agents under Section 20 of the Compulsory Purchase Act 1976.
