Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the level of food subsidies provided by Her Majesty's Government since February 1974, both in global terms for each commodity and in price per unit and those changes already announced but not yet implemented.

The level of expenditure on food subsidies since April 1974 is given below. It is not possible, without incurring disproportionate cost, to give figures from February 1974, but expenditure in the first quarter of 1974 is shown, where applicable.

Bread:
From 25th March 1974 ½p per large loaf

From 16th August 1974 2½p per large loaf
From 13th January 1975 3p per large loaf
From 16th February 1975 2½p per large loaf
From 30th November 1975 2p per large loaf
