HC Deb 21 April 1977 vol 930 c121W
22. Mr. Jay

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what foodstuffs have to be raised in price in the United Kingdom in 1977 to comply with the Treaty of Accession to the EEC.

Mr. Bishop

The main commodities directly affected by the remaining transitional steps are butter, cheese, beef, pig-meat, eggs, poultry and cereals But there could also be indirect effects on other commodities and some foodstuffs are subject to the adoption of the full Common Customs tariff.

27. Mr. Hoyle

asked the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food if he will continue to resist proposals in the Council of Agricultural Ministers which would lead to an increase in food prices for consumers.

Mr. Bishop

I can assure my hon. Friend that we will continue to work for a settlement on CAP prices which reflects the overall United Kingdom interests including the need for the maximum restraint on food prices.
