§ 34. Sir David Rentonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take to reduce further the sulphur pollution in the atmosphere; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MarksSulphur dioxide concentrations in urban areas in this country have fallen significantly in recent years as a result of controls applied to domestic and industrial emissions and changes in the choice of fuel. My right hon. Friend is keeping under review the need to take any further measures, bearing in mind the recommendations contained in the Fifth Report of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution, and discussions taking place on this subject within the EEC.
