§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he intends to take about the recent evidence that the Nationwide Building Society is not willing to accept nominations under the council mortgage replacement scheme in that part of Lewisham stretching between Lewisham Way and the River Thames, an area which includes the Brookmill Road General Improvement Area.
§ Mr. FreesonI understand that the London Boroughs Association has recently drawn the attention of the Building Societies Association to problems arising on replacement lending in London. I hope that this will lead to a satisfactory solution in cases such as that mentioned by my hon. Friend, and I have asked to be kept in close touch with developments.
