Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the number of aids and adaptations for the handicapped together with total annual cost for each of the last three years in the London borough of Brent.

The number of aids and adaptations provided to homes of disabled and elderly people in the London borough of Brent and the net expenditure incurred, during each of the last three years, were as follows:

The Department's records are not kept in a way which allows such information to be given without undue research.

Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many, people have been sentenced to gaol for obtaining social security benefits by deception in 1975, 1976 and to date in 1977; and what was the average length of sentence in each period.

The number of people receiving sentences of imprisonment for social security frauds were 1,077 and 1,507 in 1975 and 1976 respectively. Figures for 1977 are not available. Records giving statistical information about lengths of sentences are not maintained.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people, having been sentenced to gaol for obtaining social security benefits by deception in 1975, 1976 and to date in 1977, have had those sentences suspended.

Of the number of sentences of imprisonment for social security frauds, 569 and 758 were suspended in 1975 and 1976 respectively. Figures for 1977 are not available.
