Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, if, in view of the report in the Meat Trades Journal of Thursday 31st March 1977 which arose from the European tour and investigation by Mr. Leon Shaw, a director of FMC Ltd., he remains satisfied that the regulations of the O'Brien

and subsequently re-exported, free of levy; and if he will make a statement.

I am aware of suggestions that such practices are occurring. The German authorities have been making investigations to detect possible cases where, in order to avoid the French levy, United Kingdom sheen are slaughtered in Germany and subsequently exported to France as being of German origin without having fulfilled the qualifying domiciliary period. The United Kingdom Government are participating in Community discussions about possible measures to prevent such practices.
