§ Mr. Robert SheldonChanges in the Excise duty rate for spirits between the dates in question were as follows:—
Between Change per proof gallon 1st November 1951 and 31st October 1964 + £2.6s.8d. 1st November 1964 and 30th June 1970 + £5.19s.6d. 1st July 1970 and 28th February 1977 - £3.40* 1st March 1974 and 31st March 1974 + £11.64 * Reflecting the abatement of the revenue duty when VAT was introduced on 1st April 1973.
