HC Deb 07 April 1977 vol 929 c645W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to make the Snowdonia feral goats a protected species.

Mr. Denis Howell

I am advised by the Nature Conservancy Council that there are no grounds for protecting these animals under the Conservation of Wild Creatures and Wild Plants Act 1975. I understand that these goats are relatively plentiful in Snowdonia and that there is no need for conservation measures to be taken.
