HC Deb 07 April 1977 vol 929 cc680-1W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he has received advice from firms in the United Kingdom power turbine manufacturing industry that large-scale redundancies will arise in the near future unless steps are taken to assist the industry.

Mr. Golding

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 4th April 1977; Vol. 929, c. 387–8], gave the following information:

My Department has not received any communications from firms regarding substantial redundancies in this industry, although we have been notified of a small number of redundancies to take place later this year. I am aware, however, that a substantial number of jobs are at risk unless further orders are obtained by the industry. Consideration is being given by the Government to the various measures to help the industry proposed in the CPRS report.
