HC Deb 07 April 1977 vol 929 c644W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the recommendation of 18th June 1976 of the Customs Co-operation Council to amend the nomenclature for the classification of goods in Customs tariffs affects the products of endangered species; and if he is, from a conservation viewpoint, satisfied with the existing tariff.

Mr. Denis Howell

The control of international trade in the products of endangered species is based on the provisions of the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act 1976 and not on Customs' tariffs. An amendment to the tariffs does not affect these controls.
