§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to secure the reinstatement of former Chief Superintendent Fred Lambert of the Metropolitan Police, in view of the admission that he was wrongly obliged to retire in 1971.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesNo. I am informed by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that, in accordance with the authorised procedures, Mr. Lambert was retired in 1971 with an ill-health pension, on being certified medically unfit for further police service; the question of reinstatement does not arise.
