HC Deb 06 April 1977 vol 929 c570W
Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice he has given to local authorities regarding charges to be made for services to persons in receipt of supplementary benefit.

Mr. Deakins

No guidance has been given to local authorities on charges to be made for personal social services provided to persons in receipt of supplementary benefit. Local authorities are themselves responsible, under the various Acts, for assessing their own charges, and in doing so will generally have regard to the means of the persons concerned.
