HC Deb 06 April 1977 vol 929 cc563-4W
Mr. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he last instituted an inquiry into dental health services for children.

Mr. Harry Ewing

Dental health services for children were examined in the wider context of child health in the Report "Towards an Integrated Child Health Service" produced by a Sub-Group of the Joint Working Party on the Integration of Medical Work in 1973. More recently, the Child Health Programme Planning Group of the Scottish Health Service Planning Council has set up a dental sub-committee, which is reviewing the position in the light of the recomendations contained in the report of the Court Committee on Child Health Services in England and Wales. A continuous survey of dental health in children in Scotland is to be instituted later this year under the direction of Professor Kenneth Mason of Glasgow University.
