§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list in the Official Report the names of the officials of the National Blood Transfusion Service who (a) are on the board of directors or serve as a consultant to a private hospital and (b) are on the board or serve in some other capacity an organisation of health insurance providing hospital care for private patients;
(2) if he will hold an inquiry into the outside paid positions held by officials of the National Blood Transfusion Service.
§ Mr. MoyleNo. Officials of the National Blood Transfusion Service are employees of the NHS authorities to whom they are responsible under their contracts of employment, and as such would not normally be subject to a direct inquiry by my right hon. Friend. I am not aware of any circumstances which would justify my right hon. Friend requiring NHS authorities to provide the 493W information requested, or holding an inquiry, but if my hon. Friend wishes to bring a particular case to my attention I would be prepared to look at it.
