HC Deb 04 April 1977 vol 929 cc372-3W
Mr. Dunlop

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he intends to build a new driving test centre at Cookstown; and, if so, what is the estimated cost, and which area it is intended to serve.

Mr. Carter

Planning of a new vehicle and driving test Centre at Cookstown is at an advanced stage. The centre is estimated to cost £295,000 and will serve an area covering South Londonderry and East Tyrone.

Mr. Dunlop

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what proposals he has for the future of the driving test centres at Dungannon and Magherafelt.

Mr. Carter

The driving test centres at Dungannon and Magherafelt are at preesnt operated on a part-time basis. It is intended that, on completion of the purpose-built full-time vehicle inspection and driving test centre being planned for Cookstown, the facilities at Dungannon and Magherafelt will be closed.
