§ Sir John Rodgersasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied that there is no danger to daily commuters travelling in coaches where blue asbestos has been inserted in the construction.
§ Mr. HoramWhere blue asbestos has been used in the construction of passenger coaches it is normally exposed only during maintenance and repair or as the result of an accident. My right hon. Friend is satisfied, on assurances from the British Railways Board, that in normal service the levels of blue asbestos dust to which passengers are exposed are well below the standards recommended by the Advisory Committee on Asbestos.
