HC Deb 04 April 1977 vol 929 c369W
Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what was the 1974 forecast for her Department's level of expenditure in 1978–79; and by how much this figure has been reduced as a result of Government expenditure cuts.

Mr. Oakes

In respect of the expenditure for which my right hon. Friend and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales are responsible, the forecast for 1978–79 in the White Paper, "Public Expenditure to 1978–79" (Cmnd 5879) is equivalent to about £7,200 million at 1976 Survey prices. The forecast in the corresponding White Paper Cmnd 6721-II is about £760 million lower.
