HC Deb 27 October 1976 vol 918 cc259-60W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what research projects have been sponsored by her into the disease retinitis pigmentosa in the last few years; where they are being carried out; how long they will last; and what is expected to be the cost.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to a Question by my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Hackney, North and Stoke Newington (Mr. Weitzman) on 25th October 1976.—[Vol. 918, c.25.]

The genetic studies referred to form part of larger genetic linkage projects and cost figures cannot be isolated. There is no fixed term for this work. A separate costing is not available for the former work at the Medical Research Council Brain Metabolism Unit.
